Prophecy Wing Commander 4 1 The year is 3450 AD, the technology prospers but sometimes the researches went too far. It was a genetic error made on an alien that started the bloody war with the alien race of the Sub-Zero commandment. Since the terrestrials were unsafe. The war has already been raging for many years now. And the terrestrials have sent a new starbase to replace the old Tiger's Claw, which served for a whole era. The new T. C. S. Cerberus arrived safely to the Sol sector but the security for all those men aboard this war beast had not yet been ensured. The Confederate forces of the Cerberus constantly developed new prototypes of ships to secure the areas. The most recent one: the Piranha. A real beauty compared to the Vectors that were built just before. Two plasma guns, and forty-two missiles were put aboard this torpedo-ship. There was still trouble incoming. The terrestrials had been sending reinforcements and supplies for months now. And the last one is about to arrive. Escorted by three old Rapiers and one Raptor, the Hornet was cruising to the starbase. - Give me your exact position TCS. - We are at 65.12 group Beta. - Oh, shit we have company TCS. - We're sending reinforcements. - Too late, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! The ship exploded and so did the others. One missile for each of them, it was the quickest battle of all. - We lost the signal commander Iceman. - Oh, damn. These aliens are really pissing on us. Iceman was about fifty now, but he spent twenty years in the replaced Tiger. He was tall, agile, and knew every tactic of the enemy. After a pause he said: - What's the word from our guys we sent? Colonel Halcyon was working on the communications. - Still checking. And suddenly a transmission came to them. - All enemy ships destroyed, this zone belongs to us,- said Zero. The alpha wing was composed of three wingmen : Zero, Stiletto and the so-called Casquenoir. What's the status? Asked Casquenoir. - Not a scratch, said Zero. - I can take care of myself can you?. That was a nice female voice coming from Stiletto. She was known before as Jeane Devereaux, a courageous woman ready to fight no matter what. - Returning to base. At the Cerberus there was more trouble to come. Iceman stood up and started speaking. - This is going to be a long war, gentlemen. This Hornet was transporting twenty pilots and since they will never arrive we'll have to deal with those aliens all by ourselves. Gentlemen, we have only seven pilots aboard the Cerberus and I expect that every man will do his duty. Everybody in the control room and everybody in the rest of the ship applauded. The joy was though quickly stopped. Colonel Halcyon said: - We have at least nine bogies coming in. Iceman replied: - Send the men. The famous Gamma wing was composed of four pilots. It was lead by Bossman the ancient ace from the Tiger. There was also a woman Amazon and two men Spider and the most recent recruit of the Cerberus called Flameboy. All throughout the battle you could only hear things like: - Dead bug, here's some blackness for you and many more. From the enemy you could hear: - I am destroyed, we will never retreat etc� The powerful computer PIC translated their language, but still not every word was translated. So sometimes it was written "unable to translate" on the top left screen. When the alpha wing arrived back home, there was of course a debriefing. Soon, the Gamma wing arrived. When everybody entered in the main compartment, which was gigantic, some of the pilots went immediately to sleep; some of them went to the bar. The barkeeper was called Shotglass an old ace who fought in the Epsilon system. Suddenly Flameboy and Spider saw a new pilot in the training cockpit. - Who's the guy? asked Spider. - Oh! Him, his name is Saucer Greg; he spent four days in this machine. - Let's go talk to him, Flameboy. When the two men asked him how he was doing in his tests, he looked at them, and when he did Flameboy and Spider saw the flames of vengeance burning in his eyes. - Is everything okay? asked Flameboy. - Well, yeah. Quite okay. You see, I lost my family in the Psi system during the third alien-human war, so I'm outraged. I want to see action. - We'll see tomorrow, you'd better go to sleep now, said Spider. - But I can't. While I was training here I learned every single move made by the alien ships, replied Saucer. - Yes, I know that you're very interested in kicking some alien asses but you'd better sleep, quickly said Flameboy. - Okay, okay I'm coming. Everybody went to bed and the Cerberus was very quiet and made no noise that would have disturbed the pilots. 2 Everybody slept, except the defense crew in the gun turrets. There was still two hours to sleep but Spider didn't. Suddenly a quiet voice from the bed on top of Spider's speaked. - Hey, what's the matter Spidy? asked Stiletto. - I'm just thinking of how many times we fought and how many years we're going to stay here. Stiletto was a perfect woman. She had intelligence, courage and beauty. She impressed every crewmember every time she passed by. She said: - Yeah, I'm always thinking of that too. She continued her conversation: - I've always dreamt of having a house, a garden and maybe a pet. - It's only dreams, said Spider. - But, they can become reality if we fight together, side by side. Together we could have all we ever wanted. Spider got up and said: - I love you. And they kissed. The turret fires and the sudden alarm interrupted their kiss. When everybody got up, the pilots saw Stiletto in the arms of Spider but they had no time to speak they had to get into space. The alpha and gamma wings both were again in action, and who killed the most aliens: Saucer. Twenty out of twenty a record. Spider was contacted by computer. It was Zero. - So, how's the love romance going on Spidy? - Shut up, said Spider. - Are you scared to talk about it? Insisted Zero. - I said shut up, didn't I. Next time I'm blowing your ship down. - Oh, I'm scared come on Spidy. And as he said, Spider fired at Zero and blew his ship up. Zero had just the time to eject. When they arrived at the Cerberus, Iceman was all red of fury. - What's the matter old schmuck Spider, are you nuts? - He was annoying me on my love story so I warned him and only then I blew his ship up. - This was a Piranha, we only have four of these here and I guess that's minus one. - I'm sorry sir, may I have a punishment. - We don't have time for this, man. - Everybody went to the bar and laughed at Spider when he entered in it. Spider said: - Oh, come on break it up I don't have anything against Zero but he was getting on my nerves that's all. All the crewmembers were tired and so was Saucer. He got a medal, a gold one in fact. Twenty ships down, ten assists a good performance for the first time. The most impressive part of his flight was when he flied directly into the Cerberus with an alien on his tail and in the last moment he flied upwards and the alien hadn't got the time and most importantly the reaction to execute the same move. So, the alien crashed and Saucer was laughing. He was really impressive in the skies. A real ace. The story of Saucer is complicated and long though I can try to explain everything I know. When he was fifteen, he entered the Confederate forces and at the age of twenty, he flew alone with no support. Nobody except Saucer himself nailed about one thousand ships maybe more. He was yet not the most impressive pilot in the crew especially with a Vector-class ship. Some weeks later, the Cerberus organized a show where Iceman introduced two new machines. First of all there is the Fire Eagle as we call it "FE2" which was not so bad. Two laser machineguns on each wing allowed more gun power and six rockets were provided to support in case of danger, impressive. There was also the famous "Black shark" or K-50 a completely new Russian and Confederate helicopter which was transformed into a ship. This was the quickest ship of all. It could go over a thousand klicks* per hour with the useful help of the afterburner system. It also had a more advanced radar system and a completely new smart-targeting system. But for the moment there was only one prototype of each. Don't forget that we are in the twenty-eighth century. So we must imagine all the systems and ships. Anyway the two prototypes were used on their second day, here in Sol sector. When the action with the aliens was over, Iceman made a conclusion about the ships. The Fire Eagle was especially powerful when he was at the back of an alien ship because with its four guns firing at one target he could easily blow it up in a matter of seconds. And the K50 was powerful because of its speed and the quick ability to fire weapons. It had one machinegun and six missiles on each wing. A good arsenal for a medium large ship. The two prototypes were used again and again and finally were given to two pilots: Saucer and Stiletto. Saucer had got the Eagle and Stiletto got the K50 and they were both satisfied. The decision was taken by the Confederate council the CC. Months passed by like seconds. Every day it was the same: wake-up call, battle, sleeping. It's quite annoying isn't it? Well, my answer is no. After three months every pilot had a vacation and it was not exceptional this time. The eight pilots cruised back to the mother Earth. Everybody was speaking to each other except Bossman and Amazon. They were very powerful when it came to air power but they were completely weak outside talks etc�. 3 The team arrived home!!!. They had a whole month ahead of them. Five pilots went home two of them went to a hotel to get some sleep and Bossman went to the retirement office. He was old and lost the explosive ability to outrun the enemy. When he first served at the Tiger, he blew nearly three hundred ships and their bosses like Lord Dreadful and Bhurak Starkiller. He was certainly one of the best pilots the Tiger ever had. Spider and Stiletto went home to get some rest. On their way Spider insisted on that Stiletto would go with him. But she refused. The aliens were though terrorizing the Earth. But the Confederate forces had already found a cure against them: the police. These guys were called the "Black jackets". The vacations passed by and just before the team left Earth they picked a man from the police, his name was Jurgen Witt. The Hornet, in which every pilot was, was badly damaged by the enemy fire. Fortunately for them, they just made it in time. When everybody entered the Cerberus, Iceman quickly appointed them to go to the Huline planet and explore it. For the first time in ten years, Iceman was leading an expedition. This time the Hornet transport shuttle was escorted by four Tigersharks*. The team arrived on the planet and just before opening the sass Iceman said: - We've got to do our job gentlemen. This was an order from the Confederate general Sir Lion Thomas. So as I was saying we've go� His talking was though interrupted by a sudden short-circuit. The ship was down, and so were the Tigersharks. - It must be the magnetic field that surrounds the planet. The team had no choice now. Either they stay here and die as "heroes", either they go and find a communication center. The eight pilots went to explore the planet. Spider and four other pilots have stayed in the Hornet to repair the damages. - Come quickly, I'm under attack. - Let's go guys we've got alien asses to kick after all. They arrived quickly enough to beat the aliens. If there were aliens on this planet, Iceman's every step would be decisive. Spider was all right but the ship was heavily damaged. It could be destroyed at any moment. - You all right Spidy? Asked both Saucer and Flameboy. - Yeah, I'm fine, unfortunately the ship isn't. - We've got to get out of there dead or alive, the best would be alive. Said Iceman. - But how? Quickly replied Stiletto. - I'm sure if there are aliens here; they must have a communication center. I forgot to warn you but it's not too late to say it, I heard that Manta and Moray are living here so watch out. - Moray and Manta the two deadly alien chiefs. - Yes, exactly Greg, so we must watch out of these two. Iceman took a map and concluded: - Damn god it's here, the center must be here. All the pilots went together this time, and soon Iceman proved to be right again. There it was the biggest center of all times. Suddenly Iceman asked: - Good, listen up people, who's a commando here? Spider raised his hand. - Good listen, we need you to go through that ventilation hole into the heart of this building. You must be here at a precise moment (he is showing on the map). Here we are the last room is surely Manta's room, you'll go in it and kill Manta, understood lieutenant? - Yes sir, mission on the way. - Good. The center was enormous, just watching the ten gates protecting it; there must be millions of aliens inside. Iceman's team took charge of all the aliens surveying the place. When Spider arrived into Manta's room, Manta was shocked but then he raised his both hands and a defensive shield appeared. Stiletto who followed Spider in the hole felled the energy. Suddenly Stiletto started to approach Manta and somehow he started to strangle her at distance. Spider didn't know what to do so he rushed to the back of Manta and saw a hole in his shield; he took his knife and planted it in Manta's corpse, which soon exploded. Stiletto was nearly dead so Spider had to carry her in his arms. Meanwhile Iceman had found a way to communicate with the Cerberus. Spider and Stiletto both went out of the hole and suddenly they heard a lot of noise coming from their back. There were those aliens again thousands and thousands running in all the ways. When they all saw Iceman's team running back to the Hornet they fired at them and Stiletto was touched four times. One laser shot got her in the foot another one get her in the stomach, the third one in the shoulder and the last one in the chest. And Spider couldn't do anything about it. When everybody arrived in the Hornet everybody saw Stiletto lying here unconscious. The aliens were coming. Suddenly, the crew and their commander saw the Shrikes class destroyers and the Cerberus. The aliens were defeated again and the crew safely returned in the Cerberus. 4 Stiletto was lying on Spider's bed when a doctor arrived and reinsured Spider that she was going to be okay, but Spider didn't believe in these doctors. She opened her eyes slowly and looked at Spider but yet she was too weak to speak so Spider told her to get some rest kissed her and went out of the room. He was very afraid that she would die. But he tried not to think about it for the moment. The Huline expedition somehow advanced the Confederate researchers because Saucer discovered a new type of ship shields that were better than the Confederate ones. The Cerberus jumped in the Talos system to rescue Santa Rosa and Kyoto Ray stations. The Wasps* ships immediately interfered with the aliens but trouble was always present and two starbases appeared just before Witt and Saucer's eyes. In the beginning they both panicked, but when they launched torpedoes the starbases exploded. During this battle Spider ejected and the signal was surprisingly lost so no one knew where to search. He could have been captured by the alien transport service or maybe he's just floating around somewhere. Everybody was scared. Suddenly Saucer said: - I'm going after him. - What? Alone are you a fool? Asked Iceman. - I'm going too. Said Casquenoir. - Well, I hope you realize that you're going at your own risk. Casquenoir and Saucer went out to rescue Spider. Seven hours passed, the Cerberus was attacked once but survived. A weak signal came to the radar; it was Spider with his capsule. These capsules were specially built to sustain any damage made by the enemy forces. Saucer and Casquenoir didn't return at the end of the day, the aliens must have surely captured them and made experiences on them. Spider was too weak, Stiletto was unconscious it left only Witt, Amazon, Zero and Maestro for the defense. Everybody was shocked when a starbase appeared with at least fourty ships with it. - I guess that's it. Said Iceman The rest of the team went out to protect the Cerberus but after only six minutes the four pilots were ejecting. The enemy was preparing to launch a frontal assault when suddenly from out of the blue, Casquenoir and Saucer appeared and fired every last missile and torpedoes. They were both on a Shrike class ship. Despite launching decoys behind them, every missile hit its target. The enemy was once again crushed and the starbase jumped back to support the attack on the Talos station. A month passed and Stiletto opened her eyes again, she was reestablished. The other alien commandment the Kilrathi concluded an alliance with the Confederate forces. The enemy attacked precisely at 7 a.m. The starbases launched torpedoes at Talos. The bridge was down but the people inside were safe because everybody went into the engine compartment. When the second salve made their way to the station, it jumped back behind the Cerberus. Another hit and Talos was lost. The Cerberus Hornet transports were cruising towards and backward, transporting people from the inside. It seemed that everyone got off. A third torpedo was launched. Everybody was shocked when they heard that there were still many people remaining, they must have hidden themselves in the evacuation room. Iceman himself took one Hornet and went to rescue the endangered ones. There was ten seconds left until the torpedo crush into the station. Icemen arrived and found a system that could make protective shields last long enough. - What's the damn code? Asked Iceman. He forgot it. The torpedo clashed with Talos and the station started to shake. Iceman remembered the code and taped it. He closed his eyes after pushing the enter button, and waited. The station blew up, but fortunately left a protected and oxygenated corridor floating in the space. You could walk, breathe but you were somehow floating in the air. Suddenly a man cried: The people immediately went behind Iceman. The Cerberus sent another Hornet and took Iceman home safely. The aliens were outnumbering the Confederate forces. A sudden transmission came from the terran Confederate commandment that said that reinforcements were here. (Psi) Iceman looked back and saw four destroyers and approximately sixty fighters. Still it was not enough, and finally all of the Confederate forces had to jump back to Earth. The four pilots of the TCS were flying on a Vampire, an excellent ship. They were so upset by the loss of the Talos station but they continued to fight until the enemy turned his back and retreated. The TCS had five torpedoes aboard and Iceman gave the authorization to launch them. The torpedoes touched the bridge and the engine of the enemy Hydra station, which soon exploded. The Sub-Zero fleet was totally destroyed but the Confederate losses were big too. Meanwhile Spider came back with his ejected seat jetpack. Everyone was tired and sleeped for two days. There were not enough ships for the ejected pilots. The TCS Cerberus was entirely repaired and the last ships were given. The Cerberus also inserted the Talos system but the only difference was that it worked outside. The second assault was easily countered with the help of the Fire Eagle and the K-50. Saucer got another gold medal for his courage under fire. The next mission of the Confederate was to go and defeat the alien blockade near the Enyo system. Chapter 3: When the first plans were made by the Confederate, Iceman sent two pilots to confirm the enemy positions. The plans were correct. A terrible combat took place at Enyo this November the 2nd 3473. The plans were burned after the learning that millions enemy ships were setting the final meeting with the terrestrials. And what happened was that after a few easy battles, the debris of the ships began falling down on Earth. Big cities like Moscow, New York and even Catalonia all started to sell the debris on the black market. (Begin). Because of the poison on the debris all the people in those cities died of the infection, which soon infected the whole world. The Spetsnaz, I mean the Russian secret forces created a gigantic ship, which would transport all the people left on Earth. It wasn't easy to put the people inside so the men from the TCS had to help. The aliens launched an attack on Earth at 6 a.m. The people were evacuated at 6.15 a.m. The Spetsnaz and the Confederate forces allied themselves. When they tried to resist, they were all beaten. A tragic thing happened during the combats: - Can't control, eject, eject, eject! Cried Zero. - Try the red button. Said Casquenoir. - All systems blocked, before I die I would like to say that it was an honor to fight with you. Suddenly, Saucer and Witt both got Zero by the wings and pushed his ship. All the systems were unblocked and in the last moment Zero ejected. He was so scared but as a Confederate man kept control of him. The aliens soon attacked the Cerberus. - We're breaking down,������ jumping����to Psi. Said Iceman. - What the hell TCS�TCS�TCS! Asked Witt While the Cerberus was opening a dimension portal all the remaining pilots went to protect the wormhole. - Unable to jump, the reactors are down. Said Iceman. The transport ship opened a second wormhole and the TCS went in it, followed by the pilots. It was so close and it wasn't a good idea jumping in the Psi system because it was full of aliens. Saucer was especially scared because of his parent's loss here in Psi. (Relaxationzone) All the ships were low on shields and energy. So was the TCS; the bridge was down, and so were the engines. The transport ship made its way to the nearby planet called Rekosa. Soon a colony was founded and a jump buoy was sent. The colony was named after the allied forces commander Iceman, Iceman's claw. The colony prospered throughout the years, scientists developed new guns and ships. Well, they didn't have any luck for the ships, the Megakat Destroyer was still the best, although the guns evolved and became more powerful. The last gun prototype is absolutely fantastic. First of all, when fired it could absorb all the energy from the enemy ship and then with their power doubled, deliver a strong charge in the enemy ship. Or they could fire two paralyzing shots, which could stop an enemy ship and just let it float in the colossal space. It was a quite cruel thing to do but to survive here you had to even the evilest things ever done. To protect the colony, not only ships were needed, but also starbases. The terrestrials repaired the Santa-Rosa and the Santa-Maria destroyers. A new one is actually under construction, it is called Razor. It's a sort of ship-carrier that could carry some one hundred ships. Of course light guns protected it, but there were also four huge guns that could fire a shot strong enough to blow up a wormhole. Useful for fleeing. Ten years have passed the Carrier had been long finished and the colony became more crowded. As I speak a little uprising is happening here. Infiltrators have invaded the colony, and the Kilrathi forces are supporting them. - Come on, boys and girls, we got a duty on our hands. Said Iceman - Viva Rekosa! Cried all the defense members, and they went into the TCS's launching compartment, took the Megakat Destroyers and went into action. (image) Twelve Piranhas and four Hornet transporters escorted the eight pilots. At their arrival the scene was abominable: There were at least three starships, two heavy bombers and a multitude of fighters. Saucer suddenly made his ship invisible and went near the Moon. A few minutes later his voice said to get ready. All the fighters flew to the Moon and there were huge explosions. The enemy was defeated. The three starbases arrived. Meanwhile the Kilrathi invaded the colony. The Spetsnaz tried to hold them back but they were outnumbered and crushed. Whig the enemy commander went in Iceman's room and captured him. The pilots tried to reach the colony but couldn't and continued feasting. Two days later, the boys began to be scared. Their transmissions were not being received by the colony. Spider got a bright idea: - Hey, guys if the colony is unreachable, why don't we try to connect to the Cerberus. - Well, let's try your option. Said Saucer.(Psi) They established a link with the TCS, but no one answered. - Well at least we know that the Cerberus s' all right. Said Stiletto. - We must now figure a way back to the colony. - Well, I remember that Iceman told me there was another buoy in the Enyo system. - Tell us where it is then. - I think that we must search behind Mars - Then let's go find it Meanwhile in Rekosa the Kilrathi are killing people trying to resist. The Confederate forces arrived in Psi a day later. Immediately they crushed the enemy. And when they entered the cell where Iceman was kept prisoner, they found him with an artificial eye. An infrared one in fact. Iceman was in no condition to command no more. Saucer the boy-genius substituted him. Iceman was not only handicapped by one eye he was also old and sometimes gave stupid orders. Saucer was a charismatic leader with a good future ahead of him. The Kilrathi Empire was defeated and signed an armistice. The only dangers now were the Manta and Moray empires. Their ships were not less powerful than the Confederate's and their leaders were witty and strong.
